One of Ireland’s top models, Sarah McGovern, has opened up about juggling her hectic schedule with her two young children.

The blonde beauty is mum to Jude (three) and one-year-old Robyn and admits it can be tough to balance everything as modelling doesn’t have set hours.

“Our job can be all over the place – Ireland AM are really early slots, Xpose is during the day and fashion shows could be any time, morning or night,” she told the Diary.

“I do a lot of work in Arnotts and Brown Thomas on the weekends for their fashion shows as well so I’m always juggling everything to get my kids minded but I have to say that my family are amazing.

“Jude is in creche two days a week and that’s fine but then I have to get Robyn looked after. My family and friends are fantastic, I’m always asking everyone: ‘Who can do this day or that day?’

“I just wouldn’t be able to afford it if my family didn’t help out. It wouldn’t be worth going to work with the creche and babysitting fees.

“I think that’s the way it is for a lot of people, family do really come into play hugely,” she added.

While she sometimes wishes she had more of a routine, Sarah says her job also allows her lots of free time.

“It’s one thing I never really thought of years ago when I was running from job to job but it’s completely different when you have two children,” she said.

“They’re at a nice age, but a harder age because they need you all the time but I have to say I do love it.

“I love being a mom, I wish there was a bit more routine sometimes. Some days I wish I had a plan and knew what I was going to be doing day to day but then you have days off where you can spend the day at home.

“I probably get more time with the kids than if I had a nine-to-five job, so I can’t really complain,” she added.

Sarah (33) has been modelling for 15 years but says she has no plans to hang up her heels just yet.

“This is the crazy time of year for me and I do love it because I thrive on fashion shows,” she said. “Hopefully I have a couple more years of modelling ahead of me anyway.”

The mum-of-two is the ambassador for the National Spring Clean campaign which is the country’s largest anti-litter initiative that runs for the month of April every year.

“I’ve been involved with this campaign for five years and it really brings communities together,” she said.
