General information :
Set in 1930s New York during The Great Depression, brave young Annie is
forced to live a life of misery and torment at Miss Hannigan’s orphanage.
Determined to find her real parents, her luck changes when she is chosen to
spend Christmas at the residence of famous billionaire, Oliver Warbuck.
Spiteful Miss Hannigan has other ideas and hatches a plan to spoil Annie’s search.
We are ONLY looking for 4 girls to join the company for this extension to
the West End run. Some girls may need to cover the role of Annie. For
practical reasons, we are only able to audition girls who live within one
hour’s travel distance of London.
They are an eclectic group of girls and each needs to sing, act and dance to
an equally high standard. Each should be distinctly different in terms of
physicality/size, character and tone. We are particularly keen to audition
girls of all ethnicities. True individuals with real flair and stage
presence, and edgy and interesting qualities. All girls should be under
4ft10in tall, but see below for any other height requirements.
Seeking:
ANNIE (cover): An orphan. Native New Yorker. Playing age 11 years old. A streetwise,
spunky, feisty, talkative, instantly likeable young woman. Independent. A
freethinker. Never to be held back by rules, small minds or social
boundaries. Full of flair. Lights up a room the moment she walks into it.
Oozes star quality. A mother to the other girls in the orphanage.
Mezzo-Soprano : A – high F.
KATE: An orphan. Playing age seven years old. The next-to-littlest. Cute and
mischievous. Must be under 4ft 6in tall.
TESSIE: An orphan. Playing age 10 years old. Never stops crying. Fearful – exists in
a state of panic and never lets go of her comforter blanket.
JULY: A quiet orphan, with a tender heart. Though not afraid to stand up for
herself. Playing age 13 years old.
DUFFY: A big, tall girl. Playing age 13 years old. Likes to crack jokes. Confident
and bit of a bighead. Likes to fight
